A New Year

January 15, 2022

Happy New Year guys and dolls! I hope that the new year has been treating you well. It’s a rainy, cold, and dreary day here in Mississippi and while the kiddo is at a playdate I took myself down to the Walmart and to the Starbucks to write a little, drink some terrible coffee, and have a little me time. After the holidays I honestly just need some quiet and space. I had wished that the weather would have been a little more cooperative to getting out and taking some pictures but no such luck. And that’s okay. I’m happy to have a little time to write and spend some time being creative. As usual December is one of those months where I feel like I’m running at breakneck speed to try and get everything done prior to the dooms say that is December 25th.  I didn’t make very many hand made gifts this year aside from a few pair of earrings and some christmas snacks that I always give as gifts to our friends (I mean who needs another pair of fuzzy socks, but no one is going to say now to homemade pecan pralines and snack mix.) I honestly just tried to be a little more kind to myself this year. As Allie is getting older I try to spend more time in the moment with her and not so much worrying about did I get her enough for Christmas. She got one nice gift this year and several happies and she was just as thrilled as always. We spent a lot of time just me and her watching movies and drinking hot chocolate and cooking. I was able to take off the entire week of Christmas which was unreal and I enjoyed every minute. I hope you had a great holiday season and if you didn’t I feel for you and hope that next year is better. I know the holidays are a hard time for a lot of people. I miss so many people when this time of year rolls around so I know it’s not always everyone's favorite time of year.

As for going forward I’m hoping to get back to writing this year. I’ve been feeling the bug again and have a few ideas for going forward. I’m also hoping to do some more drawing and painting as that is something I have really enjoyed getting back to the last two years. I went probably 12 or 13 years not drawing or painting and it has been so nice to get back to that.

And for those of you that purchased my book, THANK YOU SO MUCH! (Here’s a LINK to my book if you’re curious)I knew that this wouldn’t sell the way my cookbook did but this was as much a passion project for me as anything so I really wasn’t worried about selling copies as I was just doing the damn thing. I’m happy to have this work out in the universe and I have a new appreciation for this work and for it to have good vibes for me instead of the no so great ones I had when I completed the series. I have so many film negatives from this series that I’m thinking about reviving this whole idea and seeing what I can do with it. I also want to make new images to go with it. I’m excited for a photography project again and for that I am so thankful.

Thank you as always for being here my lovelies.  Talk to you again soon
